Beautiful High Voltage 3 Phase Motor Wiring
Make sure that the voltage you will be supplying to your motor matches the specifications on the faceplate.
High voltage 3 phase motor wiring. High voltage motor wiring diagram to control high voltage or high power we will turn on a 12v motor using a relay. In the united states for low voltage motors below 600v you can expect either 230v or 460v. That being said there is a wide range of different motors and what you have on hand can be completely different.
If you have 230 volt three phase you have to wire the motor in the lower voltage configuration. A 9 wire motor can only be connected in a wye configuration whereas a 12 wire motor can be connected in either a wye or delta. Sometimes you apparently need to rewire a 3 phase motor for low voltage 230v as opposed to 460v in order to connect the motor to a vfd.
A three phase motor must be wired based on the diagram on the faceplate. Likewise with 460 volts you have to wire the motor for the higher voltage configuration. L1 to t1 l2 to t2 l3 to t3 t4 to t7 t5 to t8 and t6 to t9.
On a 12 wire motor wired for high voltage i e 480v 10t 11t and 12t must be connected together but not connected to anything else. Delta and wye indicate the manner in which the motor windings are connected.
