Stunning Single Pole Single Throw Switch Wiring
In a home you re likely to come across four possible types of light switches.
Single pole single throw switch wiring. Pole should not be confused with terminal. The polarity of the voltage does not matter. This means it only has one input terminal and only one output terminal.
The center position is off. It should have about 1 2 inch of bare wire at the end and should be formed into a hook like loop. This is the diagram below to learn all the pin terminals of a single pole single throw spst relay.
When the switch is closed the two terminals are connected and current flows between them. When the switch is closed the circuit is on. A single pole a 2 pole a 3 way and a 4 way.
Single pole one circuit controlled by the switch. Circuit electrical wiring enters the switch box. Then strip about 3 4 inch of insulation using wire strippers.
Fixture wiring exits the switch box. Both a single pole and 2 pole switch will have the words off and. Wire the new single pole switch.
If the wire end is in poor condition trim off the bare end. Always tighten the half moon shape towards the right and in a clockwise motion. The dpst switch for example has four terminals however is a double pole dp and not a four pole 4p switch.
